Montagno Construction served as the general contractor for the construction of Hope Street Apartments, a 61,000 square-foot, four-story mixed-use development in Stamford. The top three floors feature 88 one- and two-bedroom super-insulated apartments designed to be carbon neutral and Energy Star rated. The first floor includes 2,200 square feet of retail space and covered parking. The building is wood-framed over a steel and concrete deck. During excavation, we uncovered unexpected obstacles, including old foundations, rebar, pilings, abandoned car chassis, and vehicle engines—over 6 million pounds of material that had to be processed, separated, and removed from the site. Our proactive project management ensured that these unforeseen conditions were addressed efficiently, minimizing any impact on the project’s timeline.
