Kent School Rowing Center

The new boathouse and rowing center, built on the banks of the Housatonic River by Montagno Construction as CMR, provides critical conditioning space and boat storage for the world-renowned Kent School Rowing Team. Stationary rowing machines sit beneath an antique crew boat, while state-of-the-art rowing tanks in the next room provide controlled, in-water training to the team.

Montagno Construction worked with a HERS rater to verify the air-tightness goals of the project. The exterior is HardiePlank siding, which was shaped to resemble the movement of water. The foundation was constructed out of field stone.

The facility is also home to the school’s trophy room and student and alumni lounges.

“Over 12 years and a variety of projects, I found their workmanship and professionalism on all these various projects outstanding . . . , while school was both in and out of session.”

Joseph Wolinski
