Montagno Construction served as the general contractor for the State & Chapel Historic Redevelopment Project, which involved the construction of a new 4-story, 76-unit affordable housing building and the renovation of two historic structures. The development includes a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units, with 10% of the units fully accessible for individuals with mobility and sensory disabilities. At least 20% of the units are set aside as permanent supportive housing (PSH). The project also includes commercial space on the first floor of the new building, as well as the restoration of the Chapel units in compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation to qualify for historic tax credits. The new building on State Street is designed to achieve LEED Gold certification. Site work also includes creating a pedestrian connection to the adjacent Ninth Square development. The project is funded through historic tax credits, affordable housing programs, and complies with State and City requirements.
