Montagno Construction completed Connecticut’s first open agricultural food sanitation station, an industrial washing plant designed to bring local produce into U.S. Food and Drug Administration compliance. The project involved extensive site preparation and remediation near a brook, with careful protection of wetlands onsite. Our scope included the installation of new utilities and the buildout of a 6,000 square foot food processing plant. Serving small farmers, this urban project supports the farm-to-table movement in surrounding communities and provides economic opportunities for local farmers, with the plant employing approximately 24 people.
